UP President Alfredo E. Pascual on the UP sa Halalan 2016 Project and Website
In fulfilment of its mandate under Republic Act 9500 or the UP Charter of 2008, UP revives the UP sa Halalan Project in its continuing mission to educate and inform voters to look beyond the words and gestures of candidates for the 2016 Presidential elections. This project also builds on the favorable reception of the UP sa Halalan project in 2013.
In 2013, the University launched the UP sa Halalan 2013 Project and website which provided incisive analysis on the political situation in the country as well as fact checks which verified candidates made by candidates in the media and in their campaign sorties. The project also provided infographics, videos and interactive maps which detailed the political situation in the country.
The UP sa Halalan 2016 website is a project of the University of the Philippines System which aims to promote clean, honest and empowering elections in May 2016.
This website is part of the UP sa Halalan 2016 Project involving various constituent units of the university in Diliman, Quezon City; Los Baños, Laguna; Manila (including the Schools of Health Sciences in Baler, Aurora, Palo, Leyte and Koronadal, South Cotabato; the Visayas (Iloilo City, Miagao and Tacloban City); Open University (in Los Baños, Laguna), Mindanao (in Mintal, Davao City); Baguio; and Cebu.
The project is also undertaken by a team under the Office of the Vice President for Public Affairs through the UP Padayon Public Service Office, and in collaboration with the ABS-CBN Corporation and GMA Network.
This website is maintained by the UP System Information Office. Aside from the website, the UPSIO also maintains the UP sa Halalan Facebook page and the UP sa Halalan Twitter account where materials and updates from the project are disseminated. Videos of the project are hosted on the UP System Youtube channel.
